Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 cup sliced green onion
  • 1/2 medium red onion, chopped
  • 2 (24-oz.) jars tomato?basil pasta sauce
  • 1 (8-oz.) pkg. fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 large green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 large tomato, chopped
  • 2 tsp. Italian seasoning
  • 1 lb. sweet (mild) Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 1 (16-oz.) pkg. dry spaghetti
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil

  1. In a 4-quart Dutch oven or large skillet heat oil over medium heat. Add beef and sausage; cook, stirring frequently to break up sausage, until browned. Add onions, mushrooms and bell pepper; cook and stir until soft.
  2. Stir tomato, pasta sauce and Italian seasoning into beef mixture. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer 30 minutes.
  3. Remove cover. Simmer beef mixture 30 minutes more or until sauce reaches desired consistency. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Meanwhile, cook pasta al dente according to package directions. Drain pasta, and transfer to serving plates. Spoon meat and sauce over hot pasta, and serve.
