Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 (16-oz.) can dark red kidney beans, undrained
  • 1 (14.5-oz.) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 cup picante sauce
  • 1 to 3 tsp. chili powder
  • Shredded Cheddar

  1. In a large saucepan over medium-high heat cook and stir beef, onion and garlic until beef is browned. Drain fat. Stir in beans, tomatoes, picante sauce, chili powder, and salt and pepper to taste; bring to boiling. Reduce heat; simmer, covered, 10 minutes or until heated through.
  2. Ladle chili into bowls, sprinkle with cheese, and serve.
