Poison Apples

Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cups water
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • Blue & black gel food coloring
  • 4-6 Granny Smith apples
  • Wax paper
  • Sticks for middle of apple

Directions

  1. Grease a piece of wax paper and place on a tray.
  2. Place sticks or skewers into the middle of the apple at the top of the core.
  3. Combine sugar, water, corn syrup and black food coloring in a saucepan over medium heat.
  4. Simmer and stir until all the sugar is dissolved.
  5. After 15 to 20 minutes the caramel will be ready. The temperature must reach 300 degrees.
  6. Turn the heat off and dip the apples tilting the pan and turning so they get an even coating.
  7. Place the apples on the wax paper.
  8. If the coating is too thin, dip apples more and let cool again.
  9. Allow cooling before serving.
