Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1 (1.12-oz.) pkg. fajita marinade mix
  • 1 1/2 lb. beef sirloin steak, cut into bite-size strips
  • 1 green bell pepper, cut into strips
  • 1 medium onion, cut into thin wedges
  • 1 tbsp. ground black pepper
  • 6 hoagie buns, split
  • 6 slices Swiss cheese, halved lengthwise

  1. In large bowl combine water, oil and marinade mix. Add steak; stir to coat meat. Cover with plastic wrap and marinate in refrigerator according to package directions.
  2. In large skillet cook steak mixture over medium heat until meat is brown. Remove meat from skillet. Add bell pepper and onion to skillet. Cook until crisp-tender and most of the liquid has evaporated. Return steak to skillet. Season with black pepper and salt to taste.
  3. Preheat broiler. Place hoagie buns on baking sheet. Using slotted spoon, divide meat and vegetables among bottom halves of buns. Top with cheese.
  4. Broil sandwiches, 4 to 5 inches from the heat, for 1 to 2 minutes or until cheese melts and buns are toasted.
