Ingredients

  • Pork:
  • 1 (1-lb.) pork tenderloin, trimmed
  • 2 tsp. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. Chinese five-spice powder
  • 1/8 tsp. cayenne
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 2 tbsp. hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp. orange juice
  • 1 tsp. sesame oil
  • Slaw:
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded carrots
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded napa cabbage
  • 3 tbsp. rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp. peeled, minced gingerroot
  • 1 tsp. sesame oil
  • 1/3 cup sliced green onions

  1. For the pork: Preheat oven to 450°F. Line a roasting pan with foil and coat foil with nonstick cooking spray. Place pork in pan. In a small bowl combine brown sugar, five-spice powder, cayenne and black pepper. Rub on pork.
  2. In another small bowl combine hoisin sauce, orange juice and oil. Set aside.
  3. Place pan in oven. Roast 20 minutes or until an instant-read thermometer registers 160°F, turning occasionally. Brush pork with hoisin mixture several times during roasting. Remove pork from oven and let stand 10 minutes before slicing.
  4. Meanwhile, for the slaw: In a large bowl combine carrots and cabbage. Add vinegar, ginger and oil; toss to coat. Season to taste with freshly ground pepper. Sprinkle with green onions. Thinly slice pork, and serve with slaw.
