Grill Cleaning Tips
While we never condone putting the grill away (we'll be outside in our snow boots firing up our favorite grilled items), you might be thinking that nip in the air means it's time to put yours away for the season.
Even if you're not ready to put it away, clean grill means better tasting and healthier foods. Here's a four ways you can keep the hero of your driveway or backyard working hard for you.
- Before you cook, get the grates really hot. Get your charcoal or gas going and close the hood. Wait about 15 minutes or until the smoke subsides. The smoke you're seeing in this process is grease smoke and it does not enhance flavor like wood smoke.
- If your grates are reversible, flip them over between cooks. That will keep grease and glop from building up on the underside and making your burgers taste bad!
- Try a commercially available grate cleaner. We really like Weber's Grate Grill Cleaner and the Exterior Grill Cleaner. They spray on and wipe off and do a good job between major cleanings. Bonus, you can find them at most of our stores!
- Have really stubborn grates? Have a self cleaning oven? Place them on a rack and run them through a cycle. You'll most likely loosen that stubbonr stuff and be able to brush or wipe it off.
