We're proud to support St. Julian Winery, a local Michigan business since 1936. It's our state's oldest winery, and one of the largest. We have proudly carried this local wine for many years and are proud to be a part of this winery's history and success. Read on to get to know the family behind St. Julian.

  • David Braganini

    David grew up picking grapes after school. He's the fourth generation family business owner and president. David's Italian immigrant grandfather, Mariano Meconi, founded St. Julian in 1921 in Windsor, Ontario. Meconi moved his business to Detroit after the repeal of prohibition in 1934, and then to Paw Paw in 1936 to be closer to the vineyards.

  • Dan Nitz

    Nestled in the hills, not far from Lake Michigan, St. Julian's vineyards span more than 400 acres. The grapes are managed by Dan Nitz, the fourth generation grower in his family. Dan's family started growing grapes in Southeast Michigan for Welch's in the 1940s and he proudly carries on his family's tradition.

  • Nancie Corum-Oxley

    Nancie transforms these grapes into award-winning wines. She's Michigan's first female head winemaker and has has been with St. Julian since 2002. She is responsible for many of the vineyard's wines and takes great pride in her craft and the tradition that St. Julian carries forward.

Ready to try a bottle? Here's a few of our favorite selections chosen by our wine staff. 

  • Simply White

    A great white for relaxing out on the deck. It’s sweet, soft, smooth and easy to drink, with ripe peach, citrus and honey flavors. Perfect on its own, but wonderful with white fish, shrimp, pork or chicken. Serve chilled.

  • Cock of the Walk

    A a medium dry blend of about 10 different grapes. Some are well-known, like Merlot and Cabernet, and some hybrid grapes. These hybrids thrive in the cold climates of the Great Lakes region. A perfect pair with grilled foods.

  • Founder's Red

    A red blend, created as a tribute to founder Mariano Meconi. It is fresh and fruity without being sweet, earthy, and full bodied. Chill and sip it with grilled brats, or pasta with a meat sauce.
