The SpartanNash Foundation is keeping it real local, supporting our local communities through nonprofit organizations that align with our mission to provide hunger relief, secure shelter and support our military heroes. In 2018, the SpartanNash Foundation granted more than $1.5 million to more than 200 nonprofit partners through a series of fundraising campaigns at ourFamily Farestores and through quarterly grants.
At designated times throughout the year, the SpartanNash Foundation invites our Family Fare store guests to donate to the nonprofit partners we support through a series of fundraising campaigns. One hundred percent of funds raised by the Foundation during these scans go directly to the causes we support, including Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics, patriotic partners and local food banks. In 2018, our fundraising campaigns resulted in grants of more than $1 million.
Local nonprofit organizations that align with the Foundation’s mission can also submit a grant application. To be eligible, an organization must be located within a 30-mile radius of any of our Family Fare stores, another way we are keeping it real local and ensuring our dollars have a local impact. In 2018, Foundation grants totaled nearly $500,000 and were awarded to more than 50 organizations in the communities we serve across 16 states.
